County Fair, Tech Adventures, and Business Social Hit Alameda County Fairgrounds

Three big events are happening this month and in July at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. The first, and by far the best known, is the Alameda County Fair, with a theme for 2000 of "Celebrate the California Dream." Next is the new-this-year Tech Adventures exhibit featuring technology from throughout Alameda County. And the last is the Third Annual Alameda County-wide Business Social, hosted by the Alameda County Fair Association.

Alameda County Fair

It's family fun time every day during the Alameda County Fair which runs June 23 through July 9. Headliner entertainment shows at the amphitheater are daily except July 4 at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. and are free with paid admission. Performers this year include the Osmond Brothers, Blackhawk, Charo, Paula Poundstone, CeCe Winans, All-4-One, The Ladies of the 80s, and War. There's more at the fair with the midway, carnival rides, horse racing, agricultural demonstrations, livestock shows, home and garden displays, free grounds acts, food, and commercial products. Tech Adventures

The Tech Adventures event, free with paid fair admission, showcases the latest technological innovations from Bay Area businesses. Take some time to browse the fascinating exhibits along with vendor booths with displays of hardware, software, games, and Internet components. In keeping with the spirit of the new millennium and being in the center of a high-tech region, the fair is showcasing new technology along with agriculture. Tech Adventures is a good way to introduce people of all ages to technology so they can see how it works in their lives every day.

County-Wide Business Social

The Third Annual Alameda County-Wide Business Social, hosted by the Alameda County Fair Association and sponsored by businesses including Robert Half International and the Four Points Hotel, will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, at the Fairgrounds Technology Adventures Exhibit Building.

Don't miss this important and popular event that, last year, attracted people from business and government throughout Alameda County. This year there will be delicious food and beverages, prize drawings, interactive technology exhibits, business network opportunities, a chance to meet your elected officials, and surprise technology speakers.

Enter at the yellow gate off Pleasanton Avenue to catch the special event shuttle to the exhibit area.

Attendance is $10 per person and parking in the Pleasanton Avenue lots is $10 per car. Reservations are necessary. Call (925) 426-7600 for information.
