Join the Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative for an important discussion on changing the dynamics of poverty in the Tri-Valley. The Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative (TVAPC) is a special project of the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance. Commenced in 2013, TVAPC has been dedicated to eliminating poverty in the Tri-Valley, and addressing the often hidden characteristics and causes of poverty in suburban areas. TVAPC promotes increased equity in the Tri-Valley community by sharing information, creating connections, and providing education.
“Bridging the Gap” will be taking place at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 5 at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First Street, Livermore. The program will highlight critical efforts to confront and address the community’s multifaceted challenges surrounding poverty including work done in the arenas of healthcare, education, affordable housing, food security, and economic justice. This is an opportunity to learn about winning strategies that support and enhance economic stability to address disparities and create ladders of opportunity for positive life outcomes. Sheila Burks of Alameda County Food Bank will moderate an engaging discussion with an expert panel. Participants will have the opportunity to hear about the latest TVAPC report, Basic Income projects, and California's homelessness findings. Expert presenters include: Jim Pugh, co-founder of the Universal Income Project, Tiana Moore, Ph.D., with the Benioff Homelessness Initiative, and Larissa Estes White, Executive Director at California Racial Equity Commission.
