Livermore Valley Arts is thrilled to feature the Diwali Festival of Lights as part of their Cultural Celebration Series. Diwali is an inclusive, community-oriented festival and all are invited to share the message of hope and love with this celebration. Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival that marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and is celebrated every autumn or spring in South Asian countries such as India and Nepal. The tradition originated as a festival marking the last harvest of the year before the start of winter and spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.
All are welcome to enjoy the special Diwali Festival of Lights celebration on November 5th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Bankhead Plaza, 2400 First Street, in Downtown Livermore. The event is free and open to the entire community, and brought in partnership with Hindu Cultural Community Center and Shanmuka Theaters. Attendees can expect to enjoy traditional cultural performances and a variety of booths.
