The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), operator of the Wheels bus system and Rapid, is evaluating existing transit routes in an effort to look at changes that will help provide the best service possible for the Tri-Valley. LAVTA wants to know how Wheels can better serve your needs and plan for a more efficient transit system that carries a greater number of riders and provides the connections you need.
LAVTA is pleased to announce the launch of a public outreach campaign called Wheels in Motion to gather input on possible bus service changes that would be implemented in 2024. One of the main changes being considered will impact Wheels bus riders who use Wheels buses to get to and from BART. Starting September 11, BART has modified the train frequency on the line to the station in Hacienda from every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes on weekdays and increasing service during off-peak times and weekends. As a result of the BART changes, LAVTA is taking a fresh look at existing Wheels routes and schedules while considering adjustments that could better serve riders and the transportation needs throughout the Tri-Valley.
Three different bus route options have been developed and are being brought to the community to seek input and comments. A special extension to provide input has been made past the original September 30 deadline and comments will now be accepted through October 7. You can share your thoughts and access the Wheels in Motion survey at: wheelsbus.com/wheels-in-motion/.
