PLEASANTON BUSINESS AND SCHOOL WORKFORCE PARTNERSHIPS AND DEVELOPMENT SURVEY

The Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD)  in partnership with the City of Pleasanton, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, and Pleasanton Partners in Education invites you to learn more about the Work-Based Learning Partner Program and to take the Business and School Workforce Development Survey. This is an opportunity for companies and professionals to learn more about ways to work with the Pleasanton Unified School District to help students learn about or train for career opportunities in your industry to provide workforce development solutions!

Become a Work-Based Learning Partner

As a local business in the Pleasanton community, companies in Hacienda have a unique opportunity to participate in career awareness and exploration activities, or to engage in career preparation and training activities with PUSD students! The benefits for your company include the following:

  • Workforce Development and Talent Pipeline - Bridging the gap between education and industry ensures students are well-prepared for the workforce, creates a direct pipeline for recruiting skilled workers, and reduces the time and resources required for hiring and training new employees.

  • Community Engagement and Social Responsibility - Contributes to a more inclusive and equitable society and demonstrates a business's commitment to the local community and its investment in the education and future success of its residents.

  • Industry-Relevant Training - Helps to shape the curriculum and produce job-ready candidates by ensuring that students are learning the skills and knowledge that are most applicable to their industry.

Business and School Workforce Development Survey

Hacienda companies are encouraged to complete a short survey on the Work-Based Learning Partner program to see how their company might benefit. To participate, please visit: www.docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc472ZPMnq8icb6O_qxjb02NA0U7mpJVNXt8sqKwf-TMVQG3g/viewform. The survey will aid in creating opportunities for businesses to connect with talented students and future employees, and fulfill Pleasanton's mission to create a vibrant economy in the Tri-Valley by integrating professional networks around science-based startups with students early in their education.

Building Pleasanton's Future Workforce

This first-in-the-state effort needs additional business supporters in order to grow.  Several businesses are already hosting PUSD students as youth apprentices and interns preparing high school Career and Technical Education students for college, career, and life success by providing access to California’s first competency-based, dual-registered youth apprenticeships in Cybersecurity and Robotics. This innovative program represents a critical milestone in addressing regional workforce demands while equipping students with industry-relevant skills and credentials. Those who complete the program will receive competency-based certificates that document the new skills participants have gained during their apprenticeships and can be applied both within the State and nationally. To watch a video about the program, please visit: www.sites.google.com/pleasantonusd.net/cte-wbl/pusd-interns-apprentices.
