AALRR Receives Diversity Excellence Award

For more than 40 years, Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) has been one of California's leading law firms. The firm's team "brings a seasoned perspective to California's complex legal landscape for public and private entities, with particular strength in the areas of education, labor and employment, construction, complex litigation, corporate, taxation, and water," according to executives. Public sector clients include more than 400 K-12 school districts, community college districts, and universities, as well as cities, counties, and special districts. AALRR also represents diverse business entities, from small, family-run businesses to publicly traded corporations.

Earlier in the year, AALRR announced that the firm had once again been named as a recipient of the ABC National Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Excellence Award by Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC). This award recognizes members who display exemplary diversity leadership in their workforce, supply chain, and community with best-in-class recruitment policies, retention practices, and training and mentoring programs. ABC recognizes one company in each of five categories: Associate, Supplier, Subcontractor Under $14 Million, Subcontractor Over $14 Million, and General Contractor. This year, AALRR was chosen as the award recipient in the Associate category.

Thomas A. Lenz, who serves multiple ABC California chapters as legal counsel and the National ABC organization on various committees, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. "We're honored to receive ABC's Diversity Excellence Award again this year," according to Managing Partner Jim Baca. "AALRR is committed to building and maintaining a culture of diversity and inclusion. We're pleased with the progress we've made, and we vow to continue to increase representation in the firm at all levels."

Since March 2020, the law firm has hosted The Morning Fix, a complimentary 30-minute webinar held each Tuesday at 10:00 am that tackles areas of concern and uncertainty to help employers understand their options, obligations, and what areas to focus on while operating during a pandemic and beyond. The firm offers a range of additional webinars for employers as well.

AALRR was founded by education, employment, and labor law attorneys in 1979. The full-service firm is a recognized powerhouse in labor and employment law, education law, cities and counties representation, and litigation. Many of its attorneys have received distinction as Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and other accolades, according to the founders.
More than 200 lawyers serve clients throughout California from offices in Cerritos, Fresno, Irvine, Marin, Pasadena, Pleasanton, Riverside, Sacramento, and San Diego. The firm opened its office at Hacienda in September 2010. AALRR attorneys serve as advisors to more than 7,000 public and private sector clients.
