Degreed Marks 10th Anniversary, Acquires Learn In

After its founding ten years ago, Degreed launched the world's first Learning Experience Platform (LXP). This new category of SaaS technology was developed as part of the company's mission to revolutionize the way people learn and track their learning. Since then the Degreed LXP has been adopted by many Fortune 500 and Global 2,000 companies, transforming learning in the workplace from a compliance-based, box-checking exercise into an engaging way for people to learn in all of the formats that are inspiring to them, according to company officials. With an average end user Net Promoter score of over 40, Degreed is helping millions of people around the globe build new skills and opportunities for career impact and growth.

In June, the company announced the acquisition of talent academy platform Learn In. Learn In helps companies establish internal talent academies that bring together all the resources needed for building a highly skilled workforce, including the longer journey of developing deep skills. Learn In's core features supplement those of the category-defining Degreed LXP, including a prepaid learning stipend card, a world-class skills marketplace and custom program builder, a tuition benefits manager, and dedicated coaching. Degreed plus Learn In will unify the broader range of development options people use, spanning daily learning to long-term upskilling for individual career growth and innovation within organizations.

"Businesses that can quickly build effective talent are the ones that will be able to deliver on strategic business goals," according David Blake, CEO of Degreed. Blake was previously the Co-founder and CEO of Learn In and has returned to Degreed in tandem with the acquisition. "Together, we have the product and technology to help our customers deliver business capabilities at scale with continued innovation in the learning and skills space."

"At BMO, our strategy is to build a digitally-enabled bank that's ready for the future," says Gina Jeneroux, Chief Learning Officer at BMO Financial Group. "This means we need to equip employees with the skills they need for their job, their career, for the future of work, and as they follow their personal passions. As Degreed and Learn In come together, it will offer a more integrated opportunity for organizations like ours to engage employees and build a broader range of skills–from curious, ‘in-the-moment' learning through to deeper reskilling and credentials."

Also in June, a Total Economic Impact Study from Forrester found that Degreed Delivers a 312% return on investment for organizations using Degreed as well as "a 20% faster time-to-productivity for new employees due to a more consistent onboarding process centered around high quality content and easily navigated learning pathways," according to company officials. "Interviewees' organizations used Degreed to upskill employees and improve their organizations' performance in a number of areas, including customer satisfaction and retention, data storage and analysis, product support, diversity and inclusion, leadership and management, and technology changes," the study notes.

Learn In is the fourth acquisition for Degreed. New CEO Blake re-joins a seasoned Degreed leadership team from Bank of America, Mastercard, Danone, LinkedIn, Adobe, SAP, and Saba. Degreed is headquartered at Hacienda, where it moved from San Francisco in 2019. Degreed users span 191 countries.
