Origami Risk provides integrated software-as-a-service solutions that simplify risk, insurance, compliance, and safety management. The company offers a secure, scalable, and highly configurable platform with solutions for healthcare patient safety; risk management information systems; governance, risk, and compliance; and environmental health and safety. Origami's offerings include tools for centralizing data, automating critical workflows, and providing insight into risk and safety initiatives. Its clients in the risk and insurance industry range from insured corporate and public entities to brokers and risk consultants to insurers, third-party claims administrators, and risk pools. The company delivers a full suite of risk management and insurance core system solutions from a single secure, cloud-based platform accessible via web browser and mobile app.

In May, Origami announced the addition of a new solution to its healthcare risk management and patient safety platform to facilitate the initiation, tracking, and reporting of peer reviews, including those mandated by various regulatory and accrediting organizations such as The Joint Commission, the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. In addition to facilitating peer reviews of medical providers of various sub-specialties, Origami's new capabilities can address reviews of nurses and medical residents. The new standard solution includes specialty-based review forms that can be further configured to meet individual organizations' needs. Workflows in Origami facilitate the timely initiation of a peer review, including the automatic triggering of queries to review coordinators in the event of a patient safety incident.

Designated peer review coordinators can also access specific tools in Origami to initiate the process with all members of the review team. Results are automatically tabulated, formatted, and disseminated as appropriate to peer review committees for further review. When warranted, committee leaders can assign individual performance improvement plans, and leverage pre-configured emails and document templates to communicate the next steps to individuals being reviewed. Dashboards embedded within the standard solution allow peer review coordinators to monitor different cases and peer reviews, as well as the progress of specific performance improvement plans.

"As hospitals and other healthcare organizations focus on meeting heightened requirements for patient safety and quality care, they are ramping up efforts to implement and follow mandated protocols to address incidents involving patient safety and the delivery of quality care," according to Anooja Cannon, Healthcare Market Strategy Lead at Origami Risk, which has been a Hacienda tenant since 2019. "Our new comprehensive solution provides a secure process for engaging with peer reviewers and collaborating with committees to help foster a Just Culture and identify opportunities to increase the quality of care."
