PLEASANTON, Calif. — Hacienda Helping Hands has awarded three impact grants to organizations providing local services: Tri-Valley Haven, Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Collaborative, and Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley. Tri-Valley Haven was given a $10,000 grant in support of their Holiday Program. Tri-Valley Anti-Poverty Initiative was given a $10,000 grant in support of their work to address issues of hidden poverty in the region. Senior Support of the Tri-Valley was granted $5,000 in support of their Health Screenings Program. Grants were made through a Donor Advised Fund held by the East Bay Community Foundation.

"Hacienda Helping Hands is wants to continue its investment in the community by supporting these organization's great work," said James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. "Our goal is to make these special grants in circumstances where our aid can make a difference in helping deserving organizations with special projects and initiatives accomplish their goals."

"Thanks to Hacienda Helping Hands, Tri-Valley Haven staff and volunteers can rest easy knowing that the Holiday Project will continue with their help" exclaimed Ann King, MSW, Tri-Valley Haven Executive Director. " When a very large corporate supporter was lost this year, Hacienda Helping Hands did exactly as their name suggests: they gave the Haven a helping hand by contributing $10,000. We are appreciative for all the years of support our former corporate sponsor offered to the project, and now it is time for new support. This Holiday Project assists over 2,000 people, offering food and gifts so that they can create their own celebration. Hacienda Helping Hands is enabling those 2,000+ people to have a nice holiday. "This award will promote increased capacity building, community impact, and sustainability for our work. The Collaborative is proceeding with initiatives in our four focus areas consisting of Housing, Health, Education and Food Security, and this grant will allow us to increase the reach of what we do through expanded community engagement to address poverty alleviation in the Tri-Valley."

TVAPC was formed in 2014 to address hidden, suburban poverty in the Tri-Valley. Areas of focus include housing, health, education and food access. About Senior Support of the Tri-Valley

Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley's (SSPTV's) mission is to deliver free, comprehensive services and assistance to seniors aged 60 and older in the Tri-Valley to foster independence, promote well-being, preserve dignity, and improve quality of life. SSPTV provides a continuum of 17 senior services including case management, friendly visitor, health screening, medical appointment rides, mental health counseling, wellness/nutrition education, in-home and group exercise programs plus other services. For over 36 years, SSPTV has provided community-based services to older adults in Alameda County, especially in the Tri-Valley and this past year, SSPTV served 6,476 older adults within their programs.
