PLEASANTON, Calif. — At the mid-point of the third quarter, Hacienda has witnessed little change, either positively or negatively, from what has been seen over the last few months. Occupancy is still improved over the close of the first quarter of this year but still below the close of 2022 and slightly less than the close of the second quarter. Slight increases in both Office and Retail space vacancy were noted during August but these are only minor adjustments from the previous month. No recent changes in either Flex or Warehouse space vacancy have occurred. 2023 activity to date continues to be lower than that seen in 2022 with ongoing uncertainty about Office space demand in particular. While renewals and some relocations within Hacienda have occurred over the last few months, all activity continues to reflect an evaluative process each tenant takes as it considers their future needs. The park is the largest mixed-use development of its kind in Northern California.
“Net absorption continues to be slightly below the close of 2022. Recent activity, which has been cautious, has still not offset the amounts of space that were placed on the market with the sub-lease activity created by existing tenants,” stated James Paxson, Hacienda's general manager. "To be sure, we have seen some positive signs over the year; mostly as it relates to renewals and continued interest in the location. However, tenants are not moving agressively and there is a large amount of deliberation taking place as each new deal is assembled. Additional activity is anticipated before year-end but of a more modest nature."
Here is a summary of just some of what has gone on in Northern California’s largest mixed-use development in the past three months:
EDAX and Gatan merge to offer the ultimate suite of microscopy tools
Gatan, Inc., a business of AMETEK Inc. as well as a global leader focused on enhancing and extending the operation and productivity of electron microscopes, has merged with EDAX, LLC, a leader in X-ray microanalysis and electron diffraction instrumentation. The combined organization will retain the Gatan name, offering the ultimate suite of tools for transmission electron (TEM) and scanning electron (SEM) microscopes.
With broad product and organization overlap between Gatan and EDAX, transitioning to Gatan as the prominent tradename for all products will allow the organization to capitalize on its synergies fully. EDAX, also a business of AMETEK Inc., will still provide customers high-quality, reliable products and responsive customer care and support they expect. Joining Gatan will provide EDAX with more resources and allow it to ... more.

The partnership will help companies who have developed novel IVD tests but do not have the capacity to bring the products for FDA approval, or to take the tests to clinical labs to serve healthcare providers and patients.
