The City of Pleasanton and Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to sponsor Pleasanton Business Technology Marketplace '98, a half-day event which will offer local technology companies an opportunity to demonstrate the benefits and value of doing business in Pleasanton.
The successor to last year's Business Technology Showcase, the event will take place in Hacienda's CarrAmerica Conference Center on Wednesday, October 14, from noon to 7:00 pm.
Exhibits from the full spectrum of local technology companies will provide ample evidence of the Tri-Valley area as a high-tech center.
In addition to the information provided by exhibitors, a variety of workshops and presentations are planned. Topics are expected to include telecommuting, the Internet, Year 2000 computer concerns, electronic commerce, and tips on business marketing.
Several keynote presentations will be offered as well.
The event will be supported by a number of promotions, including a multi-media treasure hunt.
"One of the main goals of Marketplace '98 is to help educate the business community about the types of technology-based companies that do business in Pleasanton," explains Van Johnson, project manager for the event and president of Visual Advantage. "To assist in meeting our goal, the event will feature an interactive treasure hunt with a trail of clues about the participating companies."
The quest will be conducted via e-mail, the World Wide Web, and directed mailings prior to the Marketplace. Once there, the targeted business professionals will be encouraged to visit the booths participating in the treasure hunt to win prizes as they learn about the technologies offered.
Business Technology Marketplace '98 will take place in the state-of-the-art CarrAmerica Conference Center at 4410 Rosewood Drive. The facility features three large meeting rooms, including a 184-seat theater, among a host of other amenities. The meeting rooms, which seat up to 250 people, are wired with ISDN lines for the latest telecommunications technology and videoconferencing. The A/V systems in the auditorium have recently been updated as well, making this a perfect site for the event.
Businesses interested in participating should contact Mary Loura at the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce by calling (925) 846-5858, extension 201.
A limited number of exhibitor booths are available. The Chamber is also offering several sponsorship programs. Additional information on the event is available at www.pleasanton.org.
