A number of Hacienda executives were on hand November 6 for Pleasanton Partnerships in Education's annual CEO Dinner. The event raised over $60,000 for PPIE's programs, all of which benefit Pleasanton schools. It marked the fourth year for the event, held again at the Shrine Event Center in Livermore.
The event puts an interesting twist on the typical fundraiser. Each CEO invites a table of guests, then proceeds to act as their server throughout the night. The tips that each executive generates serve as donations to PPIE.
The waiter or waitress who receives the most donations during the evening receives PPIE's "Most Appreciated CEO" award. This year's winner was Joe Gabbert of Documentum, who was the first executive outside Remedy Corporation to win the award.
The money will support all of PPIE's programs, including its mini-grants for K-12 teachers; its "Excellence in Education" recognition program; and its business participation programs, including "Principal-for-a-Day," in which a local executive serves as the CEO of a local school for a day.
Participating Hacienda executives included: Wally Brown, Arthur J. Gallagher & Company; Joe Callahan, Callahan Property Company; Mary Callan, Pleasanton Unified School District; Scott McKibben, ANG Newspapers; Rose Anne Petersen, ValleyCare Health System; and Don Sundgren, Dillingham Construction.
