Services Help Companies Deal With Growth of Remote Workforce
MegaPath, Inc., a leading provider of network and communication services in North America, has relocated its Pleasanton office, acquiring nearly 30,000 square feet at 5667 Gibraltar Drive. The office houses 77 employees now and will grow to about 150 when the move is complete. MegaPath employs about 500 people nationwide.
MegaPath is headquartered in Costa Mesa, with branch offices in Austin, Atlanta, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. The Pleasanton office handles all of the company's accounting and inside sales functions and shares IT and tech support with Austin. MegaPath is growing along with the number of remote workers in today's workforce, with approximately 40 percent now working outside corporate headquarters. This increases the demands made on corporate networking solutions, which must be able to distribute information and applications to every worker regardless of location without sacrificing performance.
In this market MegaPath offers a number of broadband connectivity products and services that enable remote business locations to get reliable access to corporate applications. Broadband connectivity services include T1, DSL, cable, and satellite Internet access that feature continuous proactive network monitoring and trouble management.
Security services include firewall management, intrusion prevention, antivirus and antispam protection, and the setup and maintenance of virtual private networks (VPNs). VPNs allow remote employees to connect to internal corporate networks with the same access and security as if they were working locally. Remote secure Internet and network access is also available for mobile workers. MegaPath has had a long association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, a group that relies heavily on networking, including a large network of volunteers. MegaPath recently announced that it is providing pro bono all data communications and Internet access for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, including VPN support for all of its remote workers. MegaPath's network services will enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to use custom wish-tracking applications throughout its organization - both within its Phoenix headquarters and with remote users in key locations such as Los Angeles.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The foundation, the largest wish-granting charity in the world with 71 chapters, grants more than 12,500 wishes a year, and has granted more than 135,000 wishes since it was created in 1980.
